Abstract:
A growing body of literature has been published in recent years advocating for the use of testicular sperm over ejaculated sperm in nonazoospermic males in a number of clinical settings (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6). Central to this recommendation is the notion that, in some instances, the quality of testicular sperm might be better and result in superior clinical outcomes when compared to ejaculated sperm. Scenarios where testicular sperm has been advocated for use over ejaculated sperm include: cryptozoospermia; elevated sperm DNA damage levels; recurrent in vitro fertilization failure; and recurrent miscarriage.
